Hiking Trail
The Mayacama Hiking Trail offers a fascinating glimpse into Sonoma County's
unique ecosystem and the rugged, natural beauty of the Mayacama Mountain
Range. Enjoy a diversity of landscapes from gentle, creek-lined valleys to
rolling hills and sweeping ridge top vistas. At the crest of the northern
ascent are views east to Mount St. Helena and west over Santa Rosa to the
Coastal Range. Unique vistas of the Golf Course and Clubhouse are also seen
from several points around the trail. As the trail passes to the south, the
open woodlands of Oak, Manzanita, and mixed Chaparral give way to an
evergreen forest with Douglas Fir dominating. It is here that the trail
reaches its highest point of 500 feet and the cool shade of the forest
canopy provide the perfect habitat for several species of native fern,
California Bay, Chamise, California Buckeye, Madrone, and many others. |
